Gracious Givers Kenya is a women and youth led community organization rooted in the flood prone villages of Nyando, Kisumu County.
We work alongside communities facing the realities of climate change, poverty, unemployment and limited access to essential services. Our work focuses on practical solutions that help people prepare for, adapt to and recover from recurring floods and climate related challenges.
We believe the strongest solutions already exist within communities. Our role is to strengthen local leadership, create opportunities and support people to thrive with dignity.
Our approach is grounded in local knowledge, community participation and the belief that lasting change happens when communities lead their own development.
We listen before we act. We build from what already exists. We work through trusted community structures, local leaders, schools, youth groups, women's groups and families.
Our programs are not isolated activities. They are connected because climate shocks affect livelihoods, young people, families, health, education and community stability at the same time.
We support practical climate action, environmental stewardship, food security and income pathways that help families recover and adapt.
We support young people with life skills, mentorship, health information, leadership opportunities and pathways to a better future.
We work with caregivers, families, community groups and local structures to create safer, stronger and more connected communities.
For many families, floods affect life long after the water disappears. Crops are lost. Small businesses slow down. School materials are destroyed. Food security is weakened. Young people face fewer opportunities, and families struggle to recover.
Gracious Givers works with communities before, during and after these shocks. We focus on resilience because temporary relief is not enough. Families need knowledge, skills, support systems and livelihood pathways that help them stand strong again.
