Planting for the future: trees and eco clubs in Nyando

In Nyando, planting a tree is practical climate action. Environmental conservation, tree planting and care for local ecosystems are part of how Gracious Givers Kenya supports families and communities to adapt to recurring floods and protect the environment they depend on.

Much of this work happens through schools. Eco schools and biodiversity clubs help learners take practical climate action — 6 schools have been engaged so far. Learners raise and plant seedlings, care for young trees and learn why healthy ecosystems matter for their own families and farms.

Climate resilience is not only about the environment. It is also about livelihoods, dignity, safety and the ability of families to plan beyond the next crisis. Every seedling planted by a learner is part of a larger effort: helping communities recover faster from shocks, improve food security and build income pathways that reduce vulnerability over time.
